A Night trip from Bangkok to a flower field in the darkness, we are going to watch the once a year meteor shower, which falls on December 14th early morning from 3AM – 5AM this year.

This year, the Giminids shower falling on the full moon days, the moon light will disturb the darkness, which make the best watching windows fall between early morning on Dec 14th after the moon set. The predicted to fire up to 90 drops per hour.

This place is a 2.30 hours drive from Bangkok. We will spend around 2 hours on the platform with some blankets, hot drinks and some snacks. When we return to the van, we will drive for 1hour to Bueng Boraphet, which is the largest freshwater swamp and lake. It’s well known for the best bird watching place in Thailand, along with lotus bloom in the early morning (From 6AM to 9AM). We will reach back to Bangkok on Saturday 14th around noon time.

Geminid Meteor Shower

• The are a prolific meteor shower caused by the object 3200 Phaethon, which is thought to be a Palladian asteroid with a “rock comet” orbit. This would make the Geminids, together with the Quadrantids, the only major meteor showers not originating from a comet.
• In 2024, the Geminids Shower will fall between December 14th early morning from 3AM – 5AM

23.30: Leave Bangkok from Caltex gas station near Ari BTS.

Saturday 14th December 2024
02.30: Reach star watching place, our star watching meteor shower spot.

• We are going to the platform, and setup ourself to comfy with some blanket, hot tea and coco.
• We normally need 30 minutes in the dark to adjust to the darkness before our adjust to see better in the dark.

03.00-05.00: Geminid shower time
05.00: Return to the van, drive to Bueng Boraphet (around 1 hour drive)
06.30-07.30: Transfer to the boat to see early morning louts blooming and birds.
07.30-08.30: Breakfast, after than return back to Bangkok
11.30: Drop off at Ari BTS Station
